Eden is one of the main places of Sapphire Coast, the southernmost part of the coast of the Australian state of New South Wales. The name of the coast can be attributed to the clear sapphire blue waters of the Pacific. The area of the Sapphire Coast approximately populated fairly sparsely populated with 27,000 people is composed of many small places between which string together beautiful beaches, small villages in the fertile, slightly hilly hinterland and the densely wooded Brown Mountains, which are located about 70 km from the coast and which represent a beautiful, almost unexplored area for hiking. Eden, the southernmost town of the Sapphire Coast, situated on the picturesque Twofold Bay, was formerly a whaling center. Today, people have specialized in ocean fishing.
