Sea Cloud - aboard a stylish private yacht

The wind rattles in the sails, a fresh breeze sweeps over the Lido deck. Watch the sunset with an aperitif in hand. It's about time for dinner in the oak-paneled salon. Then retire to your cabin, which radiates stately elegance with its marble fireplace.

The Sea Cloud of Sea Cloud Cruises was built in 1931 for an American millionaire and decorated perfectly by his wife. Today's cabins still show much of the taste of the first owner. Rooms with antique secretaries alternate with colonial-style amenities.

Since 2011, there are 32 cabins available for 64 passengers - from the former officers' cabin to the original cabins of the shipowner family. Around 60 crew members not only set sail on the Sea Cloud, but also ensure a good mood on board with their shanty choir.

Before the cruise

Onboard program
On a real windjammer the focus is of course on sailing and sailing maneuvers. If you like, you can also get active yourself, for example by pulling the lines through, breaming the yards and setting the sails.
Experts on specific topics are on board on selected cruises. Artists, e.g. young talents from the Steinway Prizewinner Concerts Network, also complement the onboard program on individual cruises. At the the Lidobar, a pianist or DJ entertains during the evening cocktail hour or after-dinner drinks.
Language on board
The onboard languages are German and English. Daily programs, menus and announcements are made in German. The cruise line always try to organize the shore excursions offered with German- or English-speaking tour guides.
Board currency
The currency is the euro (€). All major credit cards (MasterCard, VISA, American Express and Diners Club) as well as German EC cards and traveler's checks are accepted on board.
Boutique
The boutique on the yachts has ccessories, clothing and gifts for you. These can be purchased directly on board.
Diet food and intolerances
Your wishes regarding diet and intolerances are gladly taken into account. Please inform the cruise line in time before your cruise.
Embarkation/ disembarkation
Generally embarkation begins at 16:00,disembarkation takes place until 09:00. Different times will be communicated with the travel documents. Please note that an earlier embarkation or disembarkation is not possible as the ship still needs to be prepared.
Itinerary change
The focus of the cruises is on sailing. Even with the most careful route planning, changes to the schedule are possible due to weather conditions or other unforeseeable events. The captain will inform you on board about any changes.
Luggage
If you arrive or depart by plane, the baggage allowance of the respective airline applies. When arriving and departing by car or train, luggage should not weigh more than 40 kg per person. Please mark your luggage with the luggage tag that is enclosed with your travel documents. Please ensure that the cabin number and name are clearly legible. When booking a guaranteed cabin, you can leave the cabin number field blank.
Medical advice
All three ships have a hospital, which is looked after by a ship's doctor who can be reached at any time in emergencies. There are no elevators on the SEA CLOUD and SEA CLOUD II, only up/down stairs.The SEA CLOUD SPIRIT has a lift. You get on and off board via the ship's own gangway, which is not always at ground level but can be a little steeper depending on the tide. When disembarking by the onboard tenders or zodiacs, entry/exit takes placealso via the gangway. Therefore, you should be in good physical shape when you start your cruise. If you are unsure, please contact the cruise line.Special treatments must be agreed upon in advance.      
Smoking
Smoking is only permitted on the outside decks outside the meal times. However, please take into consideration accompanying guests. In the Blue Lagoon, as well as the roofed Lido and spankerdeck areas and on the sundeck and on the balconies (Sea Cloud Spirit) smoking is strictly prohibited.
Gratuity
The gratuities are already included in the travel price.

During the cruise

Bars
The Lido and Lounge Bar are open daily from 11.00. Soft drinks, coffee, tea and water are available all day free of charge.
Library
You can also borrow German and English books, popular board games and DVDs (SEA CLOUD II only). Please return the items after use.  
Hand towels/ wool covers
Wool blankets and towels can be found on the Lido deck in the maritime teak boxes and on the gangway (SEA CLOUD & SEA CLOUD II). On the SEA CLOUD SPIRIT you will find blankets and towels on the Lido deck, the sun deck and on the gangway..
Cabin furnishings
On the ships there is a direct dial telephone in every cabin, a safe in the closet and a selection of non-alcoholic drinks that are available to you free of charge. In the bathroom you will find a selection of high-quality toiletries, a bathrobe, slippers and a hair dryer. The cabins of the Sea Cloud II also have a TV with DVD player and a radio; the cabins of the Sea Cloud Spirit have a TV with a modern entertainment system..On the day of arrival, each guest will be provided with a reusable stainless steel drinking bottle in the cabin. This can be refilled at the drinking water dispensers on deck.
Dress code
During the day, a casual or summery clothing style is appropriate. Stylish, casual clothing is recommended during the evening.
Please refrain from wearing shorts at dinner. At the traditional Captain's Dinner, which usually takes place twice per cruise (only once on mini cruises), a little more elegance is a popular ritual. A suit or a combination is recommended for gentlemen, ladies should dress appropriately. Non-slip shoes are also a must in your luggage.
Air conditioning
The ship is fully air-conditioned. In the cabins, the air supply is individually adjustable.
Deckchairs
A sufficient number of deck chairs and sun loungers are available on the sun deck of the SEA CLOUD SPIRIT. There are sun loungers on the outer decks of the SEA CLOUD and SEA CLOUD II. Please note that reserving loungers and chairs out of consideration for your fellow travelers is not permitted.
Lounge
The lounge is located on the Promenade Deck (SEA CLOUD) or the Lido Deck (SEA CLOUD II & SEA CLOUD SPIRIT) and is accessible at all times. There are also lectures and concerts on the Steinway grand piano on some selected cruises (SEA CLOUD II and SEA CLOUD SPIRIT).
Meals
A small breakfast with pastries and fruit awaits early and late risers aboard the SEA CLOUDs. On the SEA CLOUD, this takes place on the Panorama Deck (early risers) or the Lido Deck (late risers). A small breakfast is available at the Lido Bar aboard the SEA CLOUD II and the SEA CLOUD SPIRIT. The large breakfast is prepared for you daily at the restaurant on all three ships as a buffet. Lunch is served as buffet on the Lido Deck or at the restaurant. In the afternoon there are sweet specialties with coffee and tea. Dinner is served as a 4-course menu with an additional vegetarian option at the restaurant. For the gala dinner, the chef will present an exclusive 5-course menu. The bistro on the Lido Deck offers a flexible and casual alternative to dinner at the restaurant (SEA CLOUD SPIRIT only). A late-night snack brings the evening to a culinary end.
Restaurant
On the ships you dine at one sitting and have a free choice of tables. Please refer to the daily program on board for service times. If you want to eat relaxed on deck, you can use the bistro service on the Lido Deck on the SEA CLOUD SPIRIT.            
Safe
In your cabin's wardrobe on all three ships there is an electronic safe that can be programmed with a personal code. If you need help, please contact the reception.
Pregnancy and children on board
For safety reasons and the limited medical care on board, expectant mothers who are in the 24th week of pregnancy or beyond, or children under the age of 12 months are not permitted embarkation. Children between the ages of 1 and 18 travel free of charge in the parents' cabin. Accommodation in an own cabin is only possible in consultation with the cruise line. In this case, children pay 65% of the advertised travel price.
Electricity
The current voltage on board is 220 volts. Each bathroom is equipped with a shaving socket.
Daily newspaper
Via satellite, you will receive a daily newspaper with the latest news.
Laundry
Onboard services are limited to washing and ironing. There is no cleaning. You can find a price list in your closet.
This service is free of charge for guests booked in cat. A-C (Sea Cloud) or cat. A+B (Sea Cloud II and Sea Cloud Spirit).
Water sports/ swimming
On board snorkeling equipment is available in sufficient numbers and in different sizes. The gangway (Sea Cloud) respectively the swim platform (Sea Cloud II & Sea Cloud Spirit) allows direct access to the sea. Swim stops are decided upon by the ship management taking into account the weather conditions and subject to official approval. Furthermore, stand-up paddles offer you landings on the beach and a towable tube from the gangway.
Wellness and spa
For your personal well-being, there is a spa offer aboard the Sea Cloud II; there is even an own wellness and spa area on the Sea Cloud Spirit. All treatments/ offers can be booked for an extra charge.
