The beautiful city of Würzburg is located on Main. Around the town are vineyards, in the city life is marked by the university and the port. Already at the entrance to the city, the Fortress Marienberg stands out and towers above the city. Here stood already around 1000 BC, a small castle, around which a settlement developed.
Würzburg is full of large and small trinkets. The gems of the city include the baroque residence with a magnificent interior stucco and fresco work and a large courtyard garden. From here straight along the Hofstrasse you get to Kilian's Cathedral, a jewel of Romanesque architecture, which stands in the middle of the lively old town. A stroll through the streets of the old town, past shops and cafés are a must on the agenda.
Further towads Main you reach the old Main Bridge with Baroque statues and then on the other side of the Main rises the fortress. Here the Main Franconian Museum houses many important testimonies and works of art of the region.
