To the east of the picturesque town lies the so-called Plain of Stari Grad, which was already used for agriculture in ancient times. This area has recently been included in the UNESCO world heritage list, as is the historic old town south of the port, whose oldest buildings date back to the 16th century. But still much older witnesses can be admired in Stari Grad, such as relics from the time of the ancient settlement of Pharos and the ruins of a Roman villa with its typical mosaic floors. Directly at the main square of the town you will find the very interesting church Sv. Stjepan, built in the 17th century and the beautiful baroque palace Biankini Palca, which now houses the Nautical Museum. You can also visit the former country seat of the scholar Petar Hektorović from the year 1520.
