South Queensferry is a small town west of Edinburgh, located on the coast of the Forth Estuary. The name of the town actually dates back to a royal ferry, which Queen Margaret, wife of Malcolm III., had built. At that time there was no fixed dock, today however there is a romantic little harbor in South Queensferry, although the classic ferry service was discontinued in the 1960s: now a bridge provides the connection.

All around the port are small and fine sightseeing attractions. Among them are the two grandiose bridges, an older one from 1890 and the new one that was inaugurated in 1964. From both one can enjoy a marvellous view of the city. Among the sacral buildings the old St. Mary's church is worth seeing, it dates back to the Middle Ages and was barely remodeled since then. Further attractions are the Black Castle and the Tolbooth next to it, both dating back to the 17th century. Both buildings are located in High Street, the main street of South Queensferry, a lovely and picturesque little spot.
