From the former fortifications the water gate, built in 1613, has been preserved until today. This gate with its two characteristic towers is the landmark of the city. Worth a visit is the Martinskirche, built around the year 1100, which had to be completely renovated after its collapse in 1618. Inside it houses a wonderful organ from the year 1710, which comes from the well-known organ builder Arp Schnitger. The town hall of Sneek is also beautiful. The building, which was built in the 15th century, was renovated three centuries later in the then Rococo style. Also worthwhile is a visit to one of the many small museums in the city, such as the Maritime Museum.
