Puerto Natales / Chile

Puerto Natales is a city with about 19,000 inhabitants in southern Chile. The harbor town is located at the Ultima-Esperanza-Fjord. It was founded in 1911. The city is usually the starting point for excursions to the national parks Torres del Paine and Bernardo O'Higgins as well as for Tierra del Fuego and Patagonia tours.
Juan Fernández Ladrillero was first explored in 1557. In the area lived the aborigines Kawéskar and Aonikenk. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries many immigrants from Germany and England immigrated.
