The Isla San Cristobal is one of the Galapagos Islands that has been most affected by human settlements. Its balanced water supply with fresh water has now almost completely been pushed back. The introduction of livestock has also disturbed the vegetation, which is no longer so diverse today. Nevertheless the island with the extinct volcano is worth seeing. Puerto Baquerizo has one of the largest ports of the island group. It is also a tourist center.
