Ha'apai is an archipelago belonging to Tonga in the South Pacific. The archipelago is made up of 51 coral islands and two islets of volcanic origin, which offer around 9,000 people a home. As first Europeans the Dutch navigator Abel Janszoon Tasman set foot on the Ha'apai Islands in 1643.
