The oldest representation of the goddess Hathor is shown on the victory panel of Narmer, the founder of the 1st dynasty. The goddess Hathor is therefore one of the oldest deities in Egypt. She was the mistress and wife of the sky god Horus. While her husband in Edfu had its main temple, Hathor resided in Dendera. Their son Ihi was the youthful god of music. Therefore, the Dendera Temple hosts a so-called triad, similar to that of Abydos with Osiris, Isis and Horus. In Greek and Ptolemaic period the goddess Hathor is equated with Aphrodite, by the Romans with the Vernus.
