Astove / Seychelles

Astove is a small atoll, located in the south of the island Republic of Seychelles. The atoll consists of a flat land ring situated around a lagoon. Earlier Astove was inhabited by fugitive slaves,but  since 1980 the island is deserted. Isolated houses are evidence of the former settlement.

Scenically the atoll is very rich. In the east prevails a rather barren landscape with mangroves, while in the west grows lush vegetation. Here also live many turtles. Here are also increasingly decaying houses that were built, when the island was agriculturally cultivated.
In the north there is a very beautiful beach, in the south, the coast is rather barren and rocky, interspersed with numerous caves.
