In 1683 the St. John's Cathedral was built, but in 1745 however replaced by a stone building. An earthquake destroyed it nearly 100 years later, and in 1845 the foundation stone of the present cathedral was laid. The figures of  young John and of John the Baptist at the South Gate are said to come from one of Napoleon's ship and to have been brought by a British warship to the island.
The market, near the port of St. John's is especially Saturday mornings a worthwhile, colorful destination.
Indian Town is one of the nature reserves of Antigua and is located in the east of the island. The pounding surf of the Atlantic has formed the rock at Devil's Bridge ( "Devil's Bridge") and washed holes into the cliff, from which spouts the spray.
The lake, which today dominates the inner landscape, however, is the work of man. It came about through the construction of Potworks Dam and is with 4.5 billion liters of water Antigua's largest lake.
Fig Tree Drive is a ring road that leads through a tropical rain forest, an attractive hill landscape and beautiful fishing villages on the south coast. This tour you can take by a taxi.
On Greencastle Hill are large, secretive megaliths that might have been built in honor of the sun god and the moon goddess.
Parham in the east of the island is known for its octagonal church from the 18th century, in which some stucco works are still preserved.
The bird and insect life on the island is particularly rich in species, and in the coastal waters, there are many beautiful coral and tropical fish. Trips on Bird Island are offered by many operators.
