The nubian pharaoh-fortress of Kasr Ibrim, the sanctuary of Amada and its 800-ton-heavy colossus, have been displaced due to a flood of the dam, to a higher plateau, 3 kilometres off its original place and brought there to safety. The well preserved nubian temple could not be serrated due to the plaster-layers with coloured relief and was therefore inched on special constructed railway platforms within 6 months to its new destination.
