Agra with its 1,350 residents is located at the shore of the river Yamuna in the west of the federal state Uttar Pradesh. The old part of the city is located in the north with the market place, the modern part is in the south, with the glamorous mausoleum Taj Mahal. Agra has a great fort and many other monuments from the Mughal Era. From 1526 until 1658, the city Agra was the capital of the Mogul-Empire. Still excisting from this time is the castle-fortress of emperor Akbar (the "Red Fort") with the palace of Sah Japan and the Pearl Mosque.

Because of the Taj Mahal, Agra is one of the most visited cities of India. The Taj Mahal, one of the most precious sights of India, an "Ashram" of the Radhasoami-Satsangi-religion "tomb of the elected of the palace". It was built for Arjumand Banu Begum (Mumtaz Mahal), who died at the birth (1631) of her 14th child, on behalf of her husband, the Moghu Emperor Shah Jahan (Lord of Time) by Ahmad Nadir u.Azar ( miracle of the time) and his brother Hamid. Her husband is buried in this mausoleum next to his beloved wife.
