Ad-Dakhla, with its 85,000 inhabitants is the southernmost Moroccan town in the Western Sahara. Founded in the late 19th century as a Spanish trading posts, the harbor served until the 1930s also as a small military post. In 1979 the city finally came under Moroccan administration.
