Man of War Bay, Tobago / Caribbean

Tobago is the smaller of the two islands that make up the island nation of Trinidad and Tobago. Tobago has an area of about 300 km ² and 50,000 inhabitants. Capital of the island is Scarborough. The island belongs to the Lesser Antilles and is located between the southern Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, about 30 km north of Trinidad. The climate is tropical and characterized by high temperatures around 28 ° C with slight variations.
More than half of the island is covered by a wooded mountain range, the highest elevation (572 m) is the Pigeon Peak. While in the southwest the island is flat and sandy, the north presents itself rocky. The coastline here is very rugged, punctuated by small sandy coves. A special feature offers Tobago with its probably the oldest nature reserve in the world: since 1764, the rainforest in the area of "Main Ridge Forest Reserve and Creation Site" has been under protection. Thanks to this circumstance Tobago exhibits an impressive biodiversity, especially in regard to birds.

Man-o-War is a small, fantastic bay, about 1.5 km long. The name refers to in a sense to a species of jellyfish, but in this case to a species of frigate bird which breeds here.
