Little Bay, Montserrat / Caribbean
Little Bay is located on Montserrat, a Caribbean island of volcanic origin, located northwest of Guadeloupe. The island belongs to the Lesser Antilles, has been inhabited for about 7000 years and was discovered in 1493 by Christopher Columbus and taken in possession under the name of Santa Maria de Monserrate for the Spanish crown. In the 80s of the 20th century on Montserrat were the Air Studios, where many renowned artists such as Dire Straits, Sting, Paul McCartney and Phil Collins recorded some of their albums. Since the volcano Soufriere became active again in early 2007, the southern part of the island is again largely blocked.
After the capital Plymouth was officially abandoned by volcanic eruptions in 1997now with Little Bay gradually a new capital is in the construction. The beach of Little Bay is a very popular place on Montserrat. Here you can swim, sunbathe and watch the one or the other incoming and outgoing ships and boats. Several beach bars invite for a cool drink. In and around Little Bay also the vibrant nightlife of Montserrat takes place.
