Cerro Dragon, Isla Santa Cruz; Galápagos Islands / Galapagoseilanden
Cerro Dragon is a hill to the north of Isla Santa Cruz, one of the larger Galapagos Islands. The Galapagos Islands are located in the Pacific Ocean and are part of the South American country Ecuador. They are about 965 kilometers away from the mainland. Because of its distance from other land masses, they are characterized by a variety of endemic plant and animal species, that is, living nowhere else on Earth such as the Galapagos giant tortoise, Darwin's finches or the Galapagos penguin. In 1835 Charles Darwin visited the Galapagos Islands and was inspired here to his theory of evolution.
