Balboa (Panama City) / Panama
Balboa, a city at the edge of the rainforest, is the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal. The most striking spot on the Pacific gateway is the Puente de las Americas, a huge bridge on which the 'America's dream road' stretches. On the sea promenade, a big monument reminds of Vasco Nunez de Balboa, the one who gave the city its name. Close nearby is Panama City, a fascinating place, where you can follow the traces of colonial history and also shop well.
