Near the harbour there is the strangest lighthouse in the world as it has the shape of an ancient Roman temple. In addition to this, there are various museums in the city that are worth a visit, such as the Archaeological Museum and the Folklore Museum. The beautiful lagoon Koutavos lies somewhat outside the city and is home to numerous turtles. Other popular sites are the monasteries Agios Gerasimos and Agios Andreas on the southern coast of the island and the national park Enos Mountains.
